How to Find Free Movies Online
Digital distribution and broadband Internet technologies have changed the way we view movies. Viewing a movie used to require going to a rental store or a movie theater. Now, there are thousands of movies available to view for free over the Internet. Free online movies are available in a variety of genres, languages and parental ratings, making them ideal viewing for any group of people.
- Search you favorite online video site. These sites often provide a selection of free movies. These selections may change from time to time. If you do not find a movie you are interested in on the first try, check back later and you may find a completely different selection. Popular online video sites that include free movie selections include:
- YouTube
- IMDb
- NetFlix
- Hulu
- Amazon – Available at no charge to Amazon Prime members.
- Search using your preferred search engine. By adding “Public Domain,” “CreativeCommons,” “Open Source” or “Free and Legal” to you search, you may improve the amount of legal free movies you can find to stream or download.
- Check your local public library website. Public library systems are setting up digital media services, allowing you to check out movies, music, audio books and e-books using their website.
- Check the websites of film festivals. Award-winning movies or featured movies may be available to stream online through these websites.
- Search for independent film companies with your preferred search engine. While you may not recognize the people involved in indie films, they often have the same production values and quality as major box office releases. Indiemoviesonline.com is a great source for finding free independent films of any genre.
