How to Find Indie Clothing

Finding indie clothing is not difficult, but you should know the best places to look and exactly what you are looking for. Indie clothing is categorized in a couple of different ways. It can mean clothing that is created and produced by an independent manufacturer, and it can mean vintage and retro-style clothing that are rare and difficult to find.

  1. Search the Internet. Start by searching the Internet's top search engines such as Yahoo or Google with phrases like "indie clothing manufacturers," "indie clothing stores" or simply "indie clothing."

  2. Peruse the listing results. Numerous websites should come up when using these search terms. Some may be indie clothing stores, and others may point you in the direction of where to look for indie clothing. One site that lists indie clothing sellers and reviews them is Our Faves.

  3. Make a list of the best sites. You can make a list of the best indie clothing sites that come up in your search, or you can bookmark each page in your Internet browser. Some well-known sites that may sell indie clothing include Indie Designer Labels, Mod Cloth, Urban Outfitters and U.S. Trendy.

  4. Search eBay listings. eBay is a resource to find indie clothing. Visit the eBay site, and search within the clothing section. You can also search under vintage clothing sellers for indie clothing.

  5. Look for indie clothing at each site. Go through each website you have saved or listed and begin looking at the types of indie clothing offered. Mark the items you are interested in as favorites, or list them under each website link on your pad of paper.

  6. Check your Yellow Pages. Look through your local Yellow Pages for vintage clothing stores, used clothing stores and consignment shops. Make a list of shops nearby you can visit, and search for indie clothing items.
