- Talk to local trade school and colleges. Any school that teaches carpentry or building will probably have a work-study program designed to give students real world training in the industry. The school can provide you with a list of the companies that they work with and may know when they have job vacancies.
- Check the classified advertisements. These can be found in newspapers and online. Advertising jobs available in this way is very popular with employees. It is cost efficient and it reaches a very large audience. Keep in mind that because so many people see these ads there is a lot of completion; so apply as soon as you can if you are interested.
- Apply directly to the companies that you want to work for. If you have a particular company in mind send them a letter of interest and your resume. If they are taking applications, fill one out so that they have it on file. Many companies will look at what they have on file before they post a job opening.
