How to Find Makeup Kits
Finding makeup kits doesn't have to be a hard task when you know where to look. They often consist of a variety of cosmetics such as eye shadows, lipsticks, foundations, applicators, and brushes. Makeup kits are useful because they are easy to store and compact. If you follow easy steps you can find your own makeup kit.
- Look in local department and cosmetic stores for makeup palettes. Ask if these can be custom made with specific colors you want. You should most likely shop during the Christmas holiday season when cosmetic specials are very common. You can find brushes at local art supply stores. Look for good quality, appropriate-sized, natural hair brushes. These are good because they shed less than other brushes and often last longer. Make sure that you wash any new brushes before use.
- Visit a local costume shop and look in the cosmetic section for theatrical makeup.
- Buy a carrying case anywhere for your makeup kit. Depending on the size of your makeup will determine what makeup bag you should buy. Make sure you can easily clean and wipe potential spills. Divide the makeup you buy into sections such as daytime, evening and special occasions. Double check to make sure that you buy makeup remover, cotton balls and wipes for your makeup bag. You might want to have more than one kit for different kinds of makeup. This will help you keep your makeup well organized.
- Throw out any old or irritating makeup that you don't use. This is very important because old makeup carries bacteria. You can identify old makeup because it either doesn't apply well, separates or flakes off. Some general guidelines to keeping and throwing out makeup is: keep mascara and liquid eye makeup for three months, and six months for eye creams, eye bases, cream eye shadows, face powders or pancake ones. You can keep liquid foundations, moisturizers and concealer for one year, powder and cake blush, eyeliners and bronzer on an as-needed basis. Clean your applicator tools on a regular basis. To clean eye liner brushes, soak a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol, and clean brushes with antibacterial soap and so they are well-rinsed. Remember that if the brushes look either tangled, deformed or are full of makeup, they should be tossed.
