How to Find Reviews for Golf Courses

Finding reviews for a golf course is an important step to take before investing your hard-earned money on a round of golf. Know the right places to look for reviews so that you can trust the word that you hear about the course.

  • Talk to your friends or neighbors who like to play golf and ask them for a personal review of courses that they have played. Often, a recommendation from someone you are close to is the best way to know if a course is worth the money. Understand, however, that sometimes a recommendation from a friend can be colored by the fact of how well they played that day, not the quality of the course.

  •  Look online for sites that review local businesses, such as Yelp. You will find several different ratings on these types of sites from folks who have played the track in the past. They may also tell you holes to be wary of or what clubs you will use the most.

  • Go to the Golf Digest website to find a course locator feature.  You can search for courses in your area as well as gain access to reviews of the course. Golf Digest is one of the most trusted names in golf, so you can have faith that the information on the site is of high quality.

  • Check you local sports section in your town’s newspaper. Often, they will have a golf section once each week tucked inside the sports section. They will often review a different course in town each week.
