How to Find Storage Auctions

Storage auctions can be an exciting adventure.  You never know what is going to be behind that sliding storage unit door.  It could be a Harley.  Maybe there are gold bars in a treasure chest.  Who knows?  You might find the keys to fame and fortune buried underneath abandoned junk.

  • Browse the classifieds of the newspaper.  Auctions, including storage auctions, are listed here. A storage business owner must legally notify the storage unit renter that he or she plans to auction the contents of the unit if the outstanding balance is not paid in full by the time the auction begins.

  • Type your zip code on AuctionZip.com.  You will be given a list of auctions in your area.  This site includes all auctions, not just storage units.  You will need to read the ad to know if the auction is for a storage unit.

  • Search for storage unit businesses in your area.  You can use a reputable search engine or search the business listings of MerchantCircle.  Once you find a storage business, call or contact to find out if auctions are held there.  You will want to know the date and the time of the auction.  If the business does not auction abandoned items, ask if there are any in the area.  Most storage unit facilities can refer you to other businesses that may be auctioning storage units.

  • Click on your state of residence at StorageUnitAucitonList.com.  This site is like a search engine for storage unit auctions.  You may want to contact the business to verify the information posted on this site.

  • View other online sites that are designed to help you find a storage unit auction in your area.  These sites include:  StorageAuctionsIn.com, FindSelfStorageAuctions.com, StorageAuctionSystem.com and Storage-Units-Auction.com.
