How to Find Used ATV Parts

There are many different places the owner of an ATV can check to buy replacement parts. Having the number of the part will help to save the owner some time. If the owner does not know the part number, taking the ATV to a mechanic or describing the problem to a parts clerk may help to determine which part to buy.

  • Look in your ATV owner’s manual to try and find the number of the part that you need. Search online if the manual does not have the number. Write down the information that you find about the part and keep it with you when you search for the part locally.

  • Ask a mechanic to help you determine the part if you need assistance. Find out how much the mechanic charges to inspect your ATV before you make an appointment. Describe the problem over the phone first, to see if the mechanic can help without having to pay for a full inspection.

  • Go to the parts department at a dealership that sells the type of used ATV you own. Give the parts clerk the information you have on the ATV part. Find out if the dealership has the part in stock. Ask the parts clerk to order the part if it is not in stock. Check on the cost before you place your order, including the shipping fee.

  • Try an automotive store to find the used ATV part. Ask a clerk if the store carries the part you need. Find out how much the part costs before you decide to purchase it from the store.

  • Search online to find the ATV part. Type the part number into the search field to pull up a list of websites that carry it. Go to one of the websites and see if the part is available. Place your order online, or call the website if you would rather order the part over the phone. Find out how long it will take to receive the part in the mail.
