How Does the Post Office Deliver Mail?

How to Find a Canadian Post Office

The postal service in Canada is called Canada Post.  If you are visiting the country or if you have recently moved there, you may need to find a post office there to send or receive mail.  With 6,600 locations, there will certainly be a post office near to wherever you are.

  1. Visit the official website for Canada Post.  This can be found by searching the term "Canada Post" on any search engine.

  2. Click the link that says "Find a Post Office."

  3. Enter the desired postal code and address into the search box.  Unlike zip codes in the United States, postal codes in Canada are alphanumeric, following a format of letter-number-letter number-letter-number.   If you are unsure of the postal code, a link on the Canada Post website can assist with that as well.

  4. Find your location on the map that appears.  For most locations, several results will appear around your location, which should be centered in the map.  For example, a search for "Sasketoon" returned four locations.  The map can be zoomed in to narrow the results or zoomed out to see more results.

  5. Click on the icon of the nearest post office to get the address.

  6. Click "List" beside Map to view a list of post offices instead of a map, if desired.  This will give a list of all of the post offices in a town if you only entered a town into the search box.

  7. Click the hyperlink of the post office closest to you to view important information, such as hours of operation, payment methods accepted, languages spoken and services offered.
