How to Find a Cheap Moving Truck Rental
Renting a moving truck can save some money for a person who is relocating. Many rental companies allow the person to drop off the vehicle at a location other than where the rental is obtained. The amount of property to move will help the person to determine the size of the truck to rent.
- Make a list of all of the belongings you want to load onto a moving truck. Try to estimate the weight and dimensions of your property, so you know the size of the truck to rent. If you only want to make one trip, it is a good idea to get a truck that is larger than you need. If you can make multiple trips, the size of the truck will not matter as much.
- Ask a realtor for a recommendation on which truck rental agency to contact. Realtors often deal with clients that move from out of town, so they usually know which rental companies are reliable. Write down the name of the company the realtor recommends.
- Call the rental company and tell the clerk the size of the moving truck that you need. Let the clerk know where you are relocating to and how many days that you need the truck. Find out the cost and make a note of the information. Tell the clerk that you will be back in touch if you decide to rent a truck.
- Look in the phone book to get a list of rental companies to call. Contact a few of the companies to get a price for the truck you need to rent. Compare the costs of the different rentals and decide which agency to use. Set up a time to pick up the moving truck.
- Go to the rental agency and sign the paperwork to rent the moving truck. Inspect the vehicle before you try to drive it. Make sure the size is correct and ask the rental clerk where you need to drop it off if you are moving out of the area.
