How to Find a Cleaning Lady
When visiting a friend's immaculately clean house you may wonder how she does it. But what she may not be telling you is that she has a dirty little secret--she has a cleaning lady. You too can have a clean house without lifting a finger (only opening your pocketbook) by finding a cleaning lady.
- Ask friends about their cleaning help, or inquire at your workplace, family functions or other social events to see if anyone knows of a good cleaning lady. These are often the best resources to find a reputable person as friends and family will most likely be honest and upfront with you.
- Peruse the services section in your local classifieds to find cleaning ladies looking to take on new households. You can also post your own “Help Wanted” ad in the newspaper to find recruits.
- Go online and search or advertise your need for a cleaning lady via Craigslist, Angieslist, or eBay.
- Connect with your local colleges to see if they allow job postings on campus or in their school newspaper. Many times students are flexible with their schedules and are always looking for some additional cash.
- Interview your potential cleaning ladies and have the rest of your family meet them. As they will be in your most personal space, it is important that you find someone that you trust and are comfortable with.
- Check their references and perform background checks on prospective help to make sure they are legitimate and have provided good services in the past. Ask them if they have any special requirements, or if they draw the line at doing specific tasks.
- Discuss price for the services you need and determine if you will use an employment contract.
- Decide if you would like her to use cleaning products from your home or if you will expect her to provide her own.
- Choose your cleaning lady and schedule your services.
