How to Find a Dentist With Medicare or Medicaid
If you have Medicare or Medicaid, you may be having a hard time finding a dentist that accepts your insurance. Do not worry though, there are plenty of ways to locate a dentist that will accept Medicaid or Medicare in no time so you can find a dentist for the care you need.
- Visit the website for your Medicaid or Medicare provider. You should have a link that says "Find a Physician." Click on this link, and you will be prompted to enter in your case number, along with the type physician you need, along with your zip code to search the area near you for a provider that accepts your insurance.
- Call your local Medicaid or Medicare office and ask them for the physician referral hotline. This hotline will connect you with an operator who can provide you with numerous listings in the area your insurance will cover for the dental work you need done.
- Look up local dentists in the phone book. Call each dentist one by one to find out if they accept your insurance. Simply ask the receptionist if they accept Medicaid or Medicare depending on the type of insurance you have. If you find one you would like to visit and accepts your insurance you can make an appointment at this time.
- Ask your friends and family that have the same type of insurance if they know of a dentist in the area that accepts either Medicaid or Medicare. Ask them to provide you with the name, address and telephone number of the dentist that they see.
