How to Find a Dog Pen
Dog pens serve many different purposes. For instance, if you have a yard that is not fenced in, you can have a dog pen that will allow your dog to get some fresh air outdoors without worry about him running off. Moreover, dog pens serve very well for young puppies even indoors. There are many sizes of pens to choose from.
- Decide
on the size of the dog pen you need. For instance, perhaps you have
a new puppy and need a pen indoors to keep the puppy in while you're
away from home. Obviously, you would not need a large pen for this
need. However, if you have a larger dog that needs room to romp in
your yard, but you do not want him to have full access to your
entire yard, a larger pen can serve nicely. - Look
at the various materials dog pens come in. You can find dog pens in
metal or steel that are designed for outdoor use. These normally
have stakes that you place in the ground to hold the pen in place.
You can find wooden pens that look fabulous and work very well for
indoor use as they normally have a door that you open to allow your
dog in or out access. There are also hard resin-type dog pens that
are fairly resistant to puppy chewing. These also work well indoors,
but some are made for outdoor uses. Stronger and sturdier materials
work well for larger dogs. - What
height do you need? If you have an extra large dog, obviously, you
need a dog pen that is quite tall, otherwise your big dog can jump
over the pen. Therefore, take a quick measurement of your dog
standing on his hind legs and measure from the foot on the floor to
the top of his head. You will need a pen that is at least this
height. For smaller dogs, average heights on the dog pen are usually
sufficient.
