How to Find a Fresh Fish Market
When adding healthy variety to your family's diet, fish is a wise option that offers plenty of choices. While you could opt to purchase pre-frozen or cooked fish, buying it fresh is the best choice in terms of taste and overall quality. In order to do this however, you will want to locate a fresh fish market in your general area.
- Look on the Internet for fresh fish markets in your area. To do this, put your zip code and the words "Fresh Fish Market" in the search box and click the "Search" tab. Look over the listed results to verify that they are located in the areas specified in your search parameters and that they sell the type of fish that you are most interested in.
- Go to supermarkets in your area. Most supermarkets and grocery stores have meat departments that also sell fresh fish. If grocery stores in your area do not sell fresh seafood, ask the attendant at the meat counter where you can find the nearest fish market.
- Look in areas that are adjacent to large bodies of water, such as a marina or a wharf. These locations may have seafood markets for local people that are interested in buying fresh fish and even restaurants for tourists and locals alike.
- Look up and call fresh seafood restaurants in your area. In some cases, these types of restaurants are also adjacent to fresh seafood markets that sell to the public. If you are unable to find one set up this way, ask what market they purchase their fish from and if it is located nearby.
