How to Find a Pet Sitting Job

If you are an animal lover, you might have a great knack for becoming a pet sitter. When families go out of town, they want to make sure that their animals are cared for the same as if they were at home. If you are serious about starting a pet sitting business there are a few ways to find jobs.

  • Design a creative flyer that describes your love for animals and their well being. On the flyer you should appeal to potential customers by listing experience and how you would provide excellent service. List activities that you would do with the pet such as walking, bathing and feeding. Somewhere on your flyer, preferably near the bottom, provide the information that can be used to contact you including an email address or telephone number.

  • Go around town and scope out great places that you could post your flyers. The best places to go would be veterinary clinics, pet stores, animal shelters and animal hospitals. Ask the owners of each establishment if you can post flyers on the windows of the entrance or on the counter.

  • Spread the word to friends, family, peers, teachers and neighbors. The best way to find business is to ask around the community. Passing out flyers would also help get customers.

  • Check out how much it costs to purchase ads in the local newspaper. The more ads that you buy, the more publicity you will obtain.

  • Use websites that specialize in pet sitting. Set up a profile with your contact information and connect with people who are looking to hire you for business.
