How to Find an Artists' Website

You've been to an art show, gallery exhibit, or museum exhibit and you really enjoyed the featured artist. Now, you want to find the artist's website to see if he or she has any work for sale or any more upcoming shows. Locating a website on the Internet can be a daunting task.

  • Scour the exhibit area to see if the artist may have left any business cards. The artist's business card will often contain his or her website information.

  • Call the gallery or museum that hosted the exhibit to see if they know the artist's website information. It is possible the artist had to mention it on their exhibit application.

  • Use an Internet search engine and do a search of the artist's name. This can prove difficult if the name is common, such as John Smith or if the artist used an alias for that particular exhibit.

  • Search social networking websites to see if you can find any hits for the artist's name. Networking websites can be helpful for finding an artist's website as many artist use social sites to network with their peers.

  • Ask friends if they may know of a particular artist. Maybe the person who invited you to the art exhibit has more information about the artist. If the art exhibit is in the local area, it is possible someone may know their website information.

  • Look on community bulletin boards. An artist may advertise their next show on community bulletin boards. Often, they will include a website address to give potential viewers a preview of their work.
