How to Find and Hire Environmental Consultants
Expanding a business can be exciting, but there is a list of environmental regulations in place to protect the community. A professional environmental consultant can be hired in order to ensure that your business meets all government regulations on environmental protection.
- Perform a research to find out the environmental regulations that your business must comply with. The state and local business authority can also provide you with the information of the types of regulations you may need to consider, such as rainwater damage or waste disposal. You must follow these regulations in order to avoid penalties and fines.
- Contact your local environmental authority and request a list of the certified consultants that can work with you on your business project. You can also search through the yellow pages to locate other potential consultants. The environmental consultants will be located in your phone book in the business listings under Air Pollution Control, Professional Engineers, or Environmental and Ecological Services.
- Request proposals from the consultants that you have located. The proposals should include all of the consultant’s professional experience and business references. Send a detailed explanation of your project; include the materials to be used and the environmental regulations that apply to your project.
- Conduct a personal interview with the consultants you are interested in hiring. Choose one consultant and review and sign a contract. The contract should include the description of the job, the expected work period, and any additional information necessary to completing the job.
