How to Find the Best Craft Stores

Getting involved in arts and crafts can open up an entire world of possibilities. Beading, painting, sculpting and sewing are all common activities that many crafters enjoy. While it may be easy to determine which your favorites are, it may be more difficult to find that perfect craft store to get all of your crafting materials. However, with a little investigating and exploration, you will be able to find craft stores that suit your needs.

  1. Read reviews that you find online. Insiderpages.com and yelp.com are great resources to find reviews and comments on your local stores. Dexknows.com lets you to search by a craft supplies category (i.e. beads, cake decorating, fabrics, jewelry making, etc.) and by location, allowing you to fine-tune your search for craft stores that have good reviews.

  2. Ask your craft-savvy friends. They may know the best places to purchase certain items or where the most knowledgeable sales associates work. Conversely, they will also most likely share where they would not recommend shopping!

  3. Peruse the stores and compare prices and quality. Though some craft stores may have extremely cheap prices, their merchandise may not be the best. While you can probably skimp on quality with some items, it may be best to pay a higher price to get a product you know is going to do the job. If two stores carry the same product in which you are interested, choose the store (of course!) with the lower price.

  4. Look at the selection that the craft stores offer. If you complete many projects and are interested in many crafting specialties, a craft store that has a vast selection may be the best for you so you can do one stop shopping. Just know that you may pay a little extra at stores like this.
