How to Fit a Horse Riding Hat

Your horse riding hat should fit you well while you are riding your horse and should feel comfortable to you. You can end up wearing your heat for quite a while if you ride your horse for hours at a time. The hat should not feel uncomfortable any time that you are on the horse.

Supplies

  • Measuring tape

  1. Use a measuring tape to measure the circumference of your head. Circle the measuring tape around your forehead right above the top of your ears. Do not pull the tape too hard.

  2. Find the correct hat sizes going by the measurement that you took. Some hats will show the circumference size on a tag in the hat, and others will only give hat sizes. Hat sizes may be different for a man or woman. The measurement you took can help you find the correct hat size.

  3. Visit a store to find a hat that you can try on to make sure it fits correctly. If you do not find a hat that you like in the store, you can still figure out what size you need by trying on the different hats. You can then order the correct size when you order it online.

  4. Place the hat on your head and then move your head back and forth using your hands. Walk around with the hat on and see how it feels. Make sure it feels snug but not too tight as to be uncomfortable. Most hats have an interior lining that you can adjust to make it fit better.

  5. Attach the chinstrap until it is comfortable for you.
