How to Fix Cigarette Burns on Cloth Car Seats

If you are a smoker, chances are you have burned holes in your cloth car seats. All it takes is missing the ashtray or accidentally dropping your cigarette and then your car seat is ruined. This is highly irritating. The cost of having a cloth car seat repaired and/or replaced is rather expensive. But you can save money by doing it yourself.

How to Fix Cigarette Burns on Cloth Car Seats:

Step 1: Trim off all of the edges surrounding the cigarette burn. You can use a small carving knife or small scissors.

Step 2: File the fabric where the burn occurred, using an emery board, until it is smooth. File the fabric around this area.

Step 3: Dampen a clean cloth with rubbing alcohol. Dab the alcohol on the affected area and the area around it. Allow the alcohol to completely dry.

Step 4: Cut an iron-on patch to fit the area where the hole occurred. Measure the entire area and use this measurement to properly cut the iron-on patch.

Step 5: Use an iron or heat gun to set the iron-on patch. Once the iron-on patch has cooled, spray on fabric cleaner and wipe this area. Allow this area to air dry.
