How to Fix PC Mouse Problems
A mouse is essential to the functions of a PC. Amazingly, a mouse will usually last longer than the PC and rarely has technical problems. Nevertheless, a mouse will stop working when you need it the most. Here is what you can do to fix a problem with your PC mouse.
If your mouse is more than five years old, you may need to consider purchasing a new mouse. A mouse is fairly inexpensive and may be easier to replace than repair.
You should disconnect your mouse from the computer. For a mouse with a wire, simply unplug the mouse cord from the USB port. For a wireless mouse, take out the USB adapter. Check the USB ports to make sure there are no bent wires and everything was connected properly.
Once the mouse has been disconnected from the computer, you should clean it. Sometimes, dirt and dust causes the mouse to malfunction. Use a warm damp washcloth to wash the entire mouse.
If your mouse has a ball, twist the circular retaining ring and remove the ball. Clean the ball and the area where the ball is located.
If you have a wireless mouse, remove the battery door for cleaning. Also clean around the laser area.
A wireless mouse may stop working simply because the batteries are dead. Replacing the batteries may repair the mouse immediately.
After you have cleaned your mouse, reconnect the mouse and try it again. It should work.
If your mouse does not working after a thorough cleaning, you should try the mouse on another computer. If the mouse works on another computer, the problem may be with your computer, rather than your mouse.
You can also uninstall the mouse. Click the control panel, then system and finally device control to uninstall the mouse. Restart the computer and reinstall the mouse.
Sometimes, simply rebooting your computer system will allow the mouse to function properly. If this or any other techniques do not work, you may need to contact a professional. Professional computer repair businesses can be found on MerchantCircle.
