How to Fix a Cracked Windshield
There are many things that can cause cracks within your windshield as you drive. Luckily, should you have any cracks within your windshield you will find it an easy thing to repair yourself without having to spend hundreds of dollars.
What You Will Need
- Glass cleaner
- Cloth rag
- Windshield repair kit, syringe type
- Razor blade
- Remove dirt from your windshield by cleaning it with a cloth rag and glass cleaner.
- Remove any debris or glass particles from within the crack.
- Taking the suction cup from the repair kit, place it on the end of the syringe. Make sure to fill the syringe with resin if it isn’t already.
- Secure suction cup on top of the windshield’s crack.
- Depress the plunger on the syringe.
- Slowly pull the plunger back up to remove any air which may be in the crack.
- Depress the plunger once more to further push the resin within the crack.
- Repeat a minimum of 10 more times, allowing the resin to cure for 30 minutes between each depression. Do not remove suction, while resin is curing.
- Remove syringe and suction cup from the windshield after final depression.
- Using your razor blade, scrape the excess resin away from around the crack. Be careful not to scrape any resin which is in the crack itself.
- After the resin has fully dried, clean the area with a glass cleaner and wipe dry with a cloth rag.
