How to Fix a Pitted Sidewalk
The sidewalk in front of your home is starting to show signs of pitting. This winter has really been harsh on the sidewalk and it is in need of repair. With a little time and materials you will have it repaired in no time. The best thing is that you can do it somewhat cheaply.
What you will need:
- Dry cement mix
- Water
- Metal bucket
- Hammer
- Chisel
- Broom
- Shop Vacuum
- Paint brush
- Concrete bonding liquid
- Trowel
How to fix the pitted sidewalk:
- Follow the directions on the dry cement mix as to how much water is needed.
- Mix cement and water with a shovel.
- Break away any loose pieces of concrete that are around the pit using your chisel and hammer. Shape the pit into a square and smooth out the bottom side.
- Clean any loose concrete from around the pit.
- Apply the concrete bonding liquid on the sides and bottom of the pit using a regular size paintbrush.
- With your trowel fill in the pit with concrete mix and make sure that the corners are covered with concrete.
- Spread the wet concrete evenly over your sidewalk using your trowel.
- Sweeping over the concrete with a wet broom will give it texture.
- It will take 24 hours for the sidewalk to dry.
