How to Fix a Slow Drain

A slow drain can be very aggarvating. However learning how to fix a slow drain yourself will save you time and alot of money. With a few simple steps and tools you will be on your way to getting that drain fixed, without worrying about the cost or hassle of hiring a plumber.

Fixing a slow drain can be tough. However the first step to take would be to buy some of the commercial drain cleaner. Sometimes this works and sometimes it does not.

  • Find yourself a plunger and begin plunging the drain. This is a easy process and usually helps the drain pass the water. However it is sometimes just for the time being, and you will need to plunge every so often.

  • Rent or purchase a drain snake is another option if the above steps do not solve the problem. A drain snake is a tool that you push down the drain. Once the snake is in the drain you will need to push somewhat hard to get the snake through the blockage. Once you have reached your limit and you have no more slack left on your end of the snake you can begin to spin it slightly.

  • Pull the snake back up through the drain. Have a box or bucket to catch whatever the snake may bring back up with it.

  • Know that there is no harm in trying this yourself. If it is already clogged there is not much harm you could do. If all else fails, call a plumber.
