How to Fix my Computer Mouse
Other than the keyboard, the mouse is the most used peripheral device on a computer. When it stops working, so does productivity. If your mouse is not functioning properly then it needs repairs, or in some instances, replacing. Mouse come wireless, wired and even in colorful, sparkly forms.
1. Mouse not Recognized
If your mouse is wired and isn't seen by your computer, turn it over and see if there is a light on the bottom of the mouse. If not, it could be the USB port.
Unplug the mouse and reboot the computer. Once the system is back to a functional level, plug the mouse back into the USB port to see if it is recognized. If not, try plugging in another USB device to check its recognition, and if so, the mouse has stopped working, and it's time for a replacement.
2. Jumping Mouse
If your mouse is acting more like a kangaroo mouse jumping all over the screen, the laser may have an obstruction. Take the screw out of the bottom, remove the cover and try blowing it out with a few short breaths of air. Replace the cover and tighten the screw. If the mouse continues to jump, it will require a replacement.
3. Weak Mouse
If your mouse is wireless, change the batteries. Regardless if the laser is lit the battery power could simply be too low for your mouse to function properly. If this is not the problem, a replacement is needed.
Remember, a mouse is a consumable electrical part of the computer. That simply means that at some point a mouse will inevitably be replaced. Depending on the use of the computer, it could be sooner rather than later.
