How to Fly a Kite
Flying a kite on a windy day is the perfect way to enjoy the afternoon with your family. This is an activity that is fun to do and is fairly easy to learn. So the next time the kids are sitting around with nothing to do, take them to the park and teach them how to fly a kite.
How to Fly a Kite
The wind speed should be between 5 and 15 mph to fly the kite.
Find an open area that is free of trees and power lines.
Hold the kite in both hands and have someone hold the string.
Gently toss the kite into the wind. It may take you more than one try before it is caught by the wind.
When the wind catches the kite, let out a small amount of string. Keep letting out the string until you reach the desired height. A good height is between 50 and 100 feet.
If the kite begins to dip, pull on the string to lift it back into the air.
To bring the kite down, slowly wrap the string around the spool.
Quickly grab the kite before it hits the ground.
