How to Frame a War Medal
Framing a war medal is a great way to honor your loved one who has fought for your country. There are professional services that can frame the medal for you, or you can frame it yourself with some simple materials and an eye for detail.
Items Needed:
- Frame
- Glass
- Mountboard
- Xacto knife
- Ruler
- Mat
- Foam core
- Trace out a design that you would like to use for your war medal frame. You can go with with a simple border frame or something more advanced.
- Place your tracing paper perfectly lined up in front of the mountboard. Using the Xacto knife, evenly cut out the slots that will be used to hold the medal ribbons. You can use a ruler to ensure that they are all even.
- Remove loose fibers from the mountboard as you work.
- Turn the mountboard over so that the back is facing you. Take your foam core and mount it on. If needed, trim down the foam core so that it is not too thick to fit in the frame with the mat.
- Turn the mountboard back over and place the mat on top of it.
- Take the medal ribbons and thread them through the holes that you have cut. Attach the ribbons by using an adhesive, such as glue or by pinning them.
- Place the medal ribbons in their correct spots and adjust as you see fit.
- Finish up your frame by mounting it and putting the glass inside the frame.
