How to Gain an Investment Club Membership
Investment clubs are formed to make investing easier for a group of people. Investors who don't have a large amount of capital to invest join with others who would also like to invest. With combined resources, the group has the capital to invest in better ventures than the individual members could have.
- Find an investment club to join. Ask local friends or colleagues if they know of any investment clubs near where you live or search online to find an investment club nearby.
- Research investment clubs that interest you. When you research the club, find out who is in it, how long the people have been members, what kind of funds the club these questions will help you determine if the club you are interested in has goals similar to yours.
- Find out the amount of investment or level of commitment needed to join the club. Investment clubs require an initial investment from members and subsequent additions according to the charter of the club. If the level of commitment to join is too high, consider another investment club.
- Read the charter and rules. Make sure that you agree with the rules and the charter of the club before you join. If there are points you don't understand or are ambiguous, voice your concerns to a club member.
- Prepare for an interview. Members of investment clubs work together to manage their investments, so they will also decide as a group if they want you as their newest member. The easiest way to introduce you to the entire club is to have an interview.
- Enjoy your membership. After you demonstrate your interest and commitment to an investment club and show yourself worthy of membership, wait for approval and enjoy your membership.
