How to Get Guaranteed Unsecured Loans

An unsecured loan is a loan that is granted by a bank or lending institution with the absence of collateral such as a vehicle, real estate or other assets. Attempting to get a guaranteed unsecured loan is sometimes more challenging than obtaining a secured loan do in part to the lack of assets to back up the funding.

What You'll Need:

  • Proof of income

  1. Gather your pay stubs or any other earning statements from at least the past 6 months to a year.

  2. Speak with a representative from your bank to find out if they offer unsecured loans as part of their lending program. It is generally much easier to obtain a unsecured loan from a bank where you are already a customer. However, do not let this stop you from shopping around for the best offer. In some instances, competing banks will offer lower interest rates and better terms in an effort to attract new customers.

  3. Show the bank that your income is stable when you meet with a representative. The bank is most concerned with your ability to pay the loan back. If your income is insufficient, they can deny you on those terms.

  4. If you have sufficient income and a good credit score, try to negotiate the terms of your loan. The better financial state you are in, the more willing the bank is to accept your input on the terms. Unfortunately, if you have a lower credit score, you may have to accept whatever offers the bank is willing to lend.

  5. Once you have accepted a loan, review the details to ensure that you are confident in your ability to agree to and meet the terms and conditions of the unsecured loan. Immediately speak up on any discrepancies you have while you can still walk away from the loan offer.
