Many larger corporations regularly move employees to one city from another. In some cases, they even pay for the move. They may be able to refer you to a company that has a reputation for being efficient and affordable.

  • Talk to friends and family that may have relocated recently. There is no better source of honest, accurate information that someone that has firsthand knowledge of the kind of job a relocation service does. Ask them how many companies they talked to, why they chose the one that they did and what they like about it. Since these are people you trust they will not steer you wrong.

The only problem with these kinds of reviews is that you do not know the person giving the review. It may be an employee of their company who is paid to post glowing reviews. The information that you find online about these companies should be verified in another way.

  • Contact the chamber of commerce. Almost all towns and cities have a chamber of commerce. They are local area business networks that can provide reviews of the relocation services in the area. Bear in mind that businesses usually pay to become part of the network and the chamber will usually only provide reviews and information on companies that are members.

  • Call the Better Business Bureau. The local chapter of the Better Business Bureau can provide reviews for relocations service companies in the area as well. They rate companies based on consumer reviews and complaints. They allow prospective customers to check company reviews, see how long the service has been in business and find out information about the owners of the service. Customers that are unhappy with services provided can file complaints against specific companies.
