How to Get Small Business Grants for Disabled People

Small business grants are available to all individuals including disabled people. The U.S. Government provides small business grants for people with disabilities for free and you do not have any obligation to pay back the funds. Small business grants are essential for you to obtain since business loans require you to pay back the loan plus interest. Unfortunately, many individuals compete for small business grants, so prepare to fight for limited grants.

  1. Prepare a business plan. This plan includes how you plan to operate your small business. Your business plan gives the grantors confidence in your business. They want to give out funds if the small business is going to be successful. Your business plan must explain everything about your business. How much capital you are expecting to use, how many workers you are going to hire, and other relevant information. Remember, you are competing for a limited amount of small business loans, so your business plan must be unique and highly detailed.

  2. Check the website Grants.gov for various types of small business grants for disabled people. Grants.gov provides you with all small business grants available and each grant has a detailed description. Search for the small business grant that fits your criteria and needs of your business. You are able to download grant applications on Grants.gov. The instructions are included in the application for each grant.

  3. Contact non-profit organizations for small business grants. Grant websites are not the only resources you have. You can find many local non-profit organizations through your Chamber of Commerce.

  4. Contact your local or state government regarding small business grants. Your city or state can provide you with small business grants, depending on your location.
