How to Get Very Bad Credit Loans
A person who has a bad credit history has a number of options to try for financing. Some lenders will make a bad credit loan if the collateral far exceeds the amount of the loan proceeds. Using a cosigner on the application is another way to get a loan with bad credit.
- Contact a local bank or credit union to discuss a loan. Inform the loan officer that you have bad credit. The loan officer will offer some suggestions depending on the reason that you need the loan.
- Complete a loan application so the loan officer can review your credit history. If you receive a denial on the loan, ask the loan officer what you need to do to get an approval. You may need to provide a cosigner who has strong credit, or you may need to provide collateral.
- Have a cosigner fill out the loan application if the loan officer suggests that is the best way to proceed. Once the cosigner’s application receives an approval, you can proceed with the loan closing. If you need to provide collateral, let the loan officer know what you have to offer.
- Use a car to help get your bad credit loan approved. If you have a car that is paid for, the loan officer may agree to use it as collateral for the loan, depending on the value of the car and your particular credit history. You can also pledge other assets to try and get your loan approval to go through.
- Go online to find a bad credit loan if a local bank will not approve you. Search for websites that offer loans for people who have credit problems and fill out an application. If you receive an approval, review the loan terms and try to pay the payments off early to save on the finance charges.
