How to Get Windows Streak Free
Window cleaning can be as much pain as trying to wax a car in the rain. Trying to get a window streak free can be a great hassle. Going over and over one spot or even the whole window with a rag, newspaper or paper towel just to step back and find streaks gleaming in the sunlight can be a bit frustrating. It feels as if it can't be done. Of course, there is a way.
Anyone who has ever cleaned a window has made the mistake of standing back and taking a look from different angles to see how they did. Step forward again because there is a tiny streak. Step back and the streak has mysteriously moved from one spot to another. Finally, the obstinate window washer gives way to the streaks and walks away from the window often red-faced and considering just closing the drapes.
Take some steps to avoid the conflict next time. It's hassle free and no more time has to be wasted doing the cha-cha with the window.Taking a different approach to the window can help.
Things you will need:
- Newspaper or paper towels
- White Vinegar
- Rubber gloves
Step 1:
Slip on rubber gloves. The best kind are the ones that go beyond the wrist. Getting vinegar all over your fingers just smells bad.
Step 2:
If using newspaper, take some pages out and fold in half. You can even rip the pages apart at the seam and fold in half at the natural fold to use less. If using a paper towel, make sure to use a a whole towel and fold in half.
Step 3:
You can put the newspaper or paper towel to the mouth of the white vinegar bottle and tip to make damp with the vinegar, put the damp cloth to the window and wipe. This has been found to be the easiest way. It may take more than one tip of vinegar to get the desired dampness.
Step 4:
Grab another, dry piece of already ripped or folded newspaper or paper towel and wipe the window again until all the dampness is gone. This should leave a streak-free shine everytime.
Don't worry about the vinegar having a small odor. Within minutes of application the smell dissipates. Throw away used newspaper or paper towel. After using the vinegar, make sure to close the lid. Put the vinegar back where it belongs. You can rinse the vinegar smell off the gloves. You will have clean windows with no streaks, no smell and no cha-cha-ing.
