How to Get Your First Hair Relaxer
If you will getting your first relaxer there are several things you must consider before going through with the process. There are several brands of relaxer on the market and it is of the utmost importance that you choose one that is compatible with your hair type.
If you have thin hair, you should purchase a mild relaxer. If you hair is thick and course, you more than likely will need to go with a stronger relaxer. Try to go with a relaxer that has a built in conditioner. Applying the relaxer to your hair is something you can easily do yourself.
- Go to your local beauty supply store and purchase a relaxer that is compatible with your hair type.
- Open the box and mix the relaxer according to the enclosed instructions. There will be a wooden stick included in the box for you to use to mix the relaxer.
- Use a comb to part your hair into four equal sections and secure each section with hair clips.
- Put on the plastic gloves, which will be attached to your instruction sheet.
- Refer to the instructions as to how long you should take to apply the relaxer.
- Remove one of the clips from a section of hair located in the back.
- Part off a small section and apply the relaxer using your hands, which should be covered by the gloves. Make sure you go from the root of the hair all the way to the end.
- Continue to apply the relaxer to the other sections of hair in the same manner.
- Rinse the relaxer out with warm water.
- Wash hair with the deactivating shampoo included in the relaxing kit.
- Apply conditioner to your hair, which will be included in your kit.
- Dry your hair with a blower dryer and style as desired.
