How to Get a Liquor License
Whether you want to sell alcohol in your restaurant or at a party you are hosting, you must apply for a liquor license. Each state has different rules and regulations for liquor licenses. You may have to submit additional applications to your local government as well. It is important to learn the proper way to obtain a liquor license to avoid trouble with the law.
How to Get a Liquor License
1. Contact your local state government for information about applying for and obtaining a liquor license. The easiest way to do this is by surfing the Internet for local state government offices. You want to locate the department that handles alcohol regulation. You may have to apply for two licenses, which may be at state and city levels.
2. Identify which types of liquor licenses are available to choose from. There are bar and grill, retail and special events liquor licenses but this may vary with each state.
3. Read any documentation that is given to you by the local and state government. This information should include liquor code and laws, penalties, violations and application requirements for the license.
4. Request an application and fill it out with all of the requested information along with the fee, if required. Submit the application to the proper authorities. You may also be able to find the application on the Internet for some states.
5. Make sure you make a copy of the application before you submit it. Once approved, you will recieve your license in the mail.
