How to Get a Photography Business License
Photography is an exciting career, but in order to start a business you need to begin with the basics. You will need to know about the photography business and ways you can get started on getting your business license. By following a few steps you can be on your way to obtaining your photography license.
- Determine whether your area is zoned for your photography commercial business. The city that you live in will not give you a business license if it is not zoned for your specific business purpose. For example, if you are a person who works out of a home, you need to make sure that your city is zoned for your business.
- Call your local courthouse. City Hall should be able to give you the right paperwork to fill out. If you are running your photography business from home and your customers do not go there, then you don't have to have a business license. But if you do, you will have to fill out paperwork.
- Make up a good name for your business and fill out DBA paperwork. This can be done all on the same day. This will get you a business phone number and checking account.
- Pay the necessary fee for your business license, which is usually not that expensive. The amount of the fee will depend on the city where you live. You will either be charged one flat fee or through your business potential revenue. To get this information you will need to talk to your local courthouse.
