How to Get the Right Cosmetics
The most important component of your cosmetic choice will be your foundation. We've all seen someone with a makeup choice either too light or too dark. The wrong foundation can ruin the overall look of your makeup. Selecting the right cosmetics is essential to a beautiful face.
What You'll Need:
- Mirror
- Good light
- Shade cards
- Foundation
- You should first consider working near a window that will provide you with an excellent source of natural light. When trying to find the right cosmetics, natural light is always better than artificial light.
- Gather all your shade cards. Begin holding the shade cards up to your neck and jawline area one at a time. Continue doing so until you find a shade that "vanishes". Once you've found one you'll know that it is the correct shade for your skin. If possible, when completing this step it is best to get the opinion of someone else as well.
- Take your shade card along with you to purchase a shade that matches the card. Once you've found a match, ask someone for a tester bottle so that you can test the shade against your skin. To do so, rub a small amount around your neckline and jawline area. If the shade once again "vanishes" you'll know you've made the right choice in foundation.
- Next you'll need to determine what type of foundation you'll use, cream, cream to powder, mousse or a mineral foundation. Generally, mineral foundations are the best choice for healthy skin. However, if you have oily skin a cream to powder foundation is best and for dry skin, a cream or mousse foundation is best.
