Place the dog on a skid-free surface, such as a rubber mat on a table.
Starting on the dog's back, use clippers to cut the fur starting at the neck and ending at the tail. Glide the clippers in a smooth and gentle manner, making sure to follow the contour of the dog's body.
Use the clippers to clip the fur along the dog's sides. Start at the top and move the clippers in a downward motion.
Use the clippers to carefully clip the fur on the dog's face, chest and neck.
Use scissors to trim the fur around the eyes and mouth.
Use scissors to trim around the dog's ears by lifting them up and holding them out.
Hold the dog's tail straight out and use the clippers to cut the top, sides and bottom.
Use scissors to trim the fur around the dog's hind end.
Lift the dog's front legs and use the clippers to cut the fur on the stomach, being careful not to cut the nipples.
Hold one paw in your hand and use dog nail clippers to clip the dog's nails. Only remove the translucent portion of the nail.
