How to Have Healthy Nails
Having strong healthy nails are not only attractive, but they are also a sign of good grooming habits. Although they are often taken for granted, nails play a major part in our daily activities. They are often used for small tasks that range from scratching an itch to picking up small, difficult to handle items.
- Rub castor oil, olive oil or petroleum jelly on your nails daily. This should primarily be done at night before bed and then again whenever they feel dry.
- Wear gloves whenever you are doing dishes, cleaning with chemicals or gardening. Anytime your nails are at risk from chemical or physical damage they should be protected.
- Dry your hands completely after washing them.
- File your nails in one direction. Avoid sawing the file back and forth.
- Make sure that you are getting plenty of zinc in your diet. Drink milk daily and consider eating a hard-boiled egg in the mornings.
- Protect your nails with a coat of clear polish and avoid acetone polish removers when taking off the polish.
