How to Start a Spiritual Path

How to Have Spiritual Path Without Being Religious

It is quite common these days to be spiritual and not be religious. Religion is a organized way to worship a higher power. Many people believe in a higher power, but don't believe organized religion is necessary in order to properly worship that higher power.

  1. Decide what exactly it is you do believe. Many people believe in gods. Gods are higher beings capable of achieving things that mortals could not do without the help of that god. If you believe in a single god such as the god portrayed in the Bible and you believe in what he represents, than you are spiritual. However, this does not mean you are necessarily religious.

  2. Determine your reasoning for believing in the higher power of your choosing. Does this higher power require that you must join an organized form of religion in order to worship them? Many times even if this is the case, spiritual people who are not religious believe that showing your faith by joining a religious organization is not necessary to prove your loyalty to that higher power. In fact many spiritual people who are not religious believe that their higher power would not want that.

  3. Believe what you want to believe, not what others tell you to believe. In organized religion you are normally told what you should or should not believe. If you want to believe in certain things that an organized religion believes in and others that they may not, you may be spiritual still even if you don't believe in being religious.

  4. Follow your feelings. No one can know for certain which belief's are true and which ones are not. If you feel that you believe in a higher power, but you don't believe in how others choose to worship that power in an organized group than you are still on a spiritual path without being religious.
