How to Improve Drinking Water

Drinking water has come a long way over the years. No longer are the days where we have to boil water to ensure its safety. But that doesn't mean we always like the taste. There are ways to help rid your tap water of that strong pipe or bitter taste. The best thing about it is that it can be done with very little money or skill.

1. Filter your water. Filtration systems can be purchase and installed fairly simply. There are different levels of quality as well as prices.

2. Learn the EPA guidelines. The Environmental Protection Agency regulates tap water so that it is safe for consumption. The biggest complaint about tap water is not about harm as much as it is taste.

3. Subscribe to a water delivery service. There are many companies that offer great quality water delivered right to your door for a small monthly fee. You can save money by signing a set term agreement.

4. Carry filtered water bottles when on the go. A lot of times the issue is not water only in your home. You can use a filtered water bottle when traveling to ensure the filtration of your water.

5. Flavor your water. Since taste is a common issue, many companies offer flavors to add to the water to give it a better taste. These can come in packets in which you mix into the water, or blended into the filtration system straight from the tap.

6. Ask government officials to demand better drinking water.  Drinking water is not often a issue that is addressed by the government. As long as it meets minimal safety requirements then it is not a concern to them. If the water in your area is a problem, then you should speak out about it to your community leaders.

7. Spread the word. Let others in your neighborhood know how you manage your water. Give the steps to anyone that is interested in improving their drinking water.
