How to Install Bathroom Vanities

Installing a bathroom vanity can be a lot of work. It is important to make sure you have the right measurements for your bathroom and enough space before attempting the task. There are many looks to choose when adding a bathroom vanity. There are now more modern styles and designs when it comes to the perfect vanity.

Items needed:

  • Vanity

  • Silicone caulk

  • Power drill

  • Vanity screws

Instructions:

  1. Search for the style and size bathroom vanity to install. Depending upon the style of the vanity there may be more of your wall and floor exposed. You may have to do touch up repairs to some of these areas as well.

  2. Take your measurements and mark off the areas for where the vanity is installed. Mark the locations of the water lines, studs and where the drain needs to be. Match this up with the bathroom vanity and mark the locations on the vanity.

  3. Use a power drill to drill out the pilot holes. This is where the water and drain lines run. You may find some vanities that already have pre-drilled holes. Use a hole saw to cut out these locations if needed. Make sure all holes are even to prevent from having an unleveled vanity.

  4. Place the pilot holes on the back of the vanity using your drill. This should be where you have it aligned with the wall studs. Screw the vanity into place securely against the wall. Use your drill to make sure the screws are tight.

  5. Install the sink on top of the vanity. Follow the directions which are included to make sure this is done according to the manufacturer. Install the faucets and connect them to the water lines. Connect the drain line to the bottom of the sink drain and to the floor drain. Use silicone caulk to put along the edges of the sink to keep the water from leaking.

  6. Allow the vanity to sit for 24 hours. Check to see if there are any other leaks; if so, fix them.
