How to Install Golf Club Heads on a Shaft
Golf clubs are designed so that the heads can be removed from the shafts. This is handy if you should want to change the heads of your golf clubs to new ones, or if the shaft breaks and you need to replace it. You can bring the clubs to a pro shop to get them changed, or you can learn to do it yourself.
Items Needed:
- Sandpaper
- Epoxy glue
- Clean cloth
- Acetone
- Sand the paint off of the end of the shaft. This is so that the epoxy will have a more textured surface to hold onto. If you have a graphite shaft, you will have to sand down through the protective coating to get to the paint.
- Cover the end of the shaft that you have sanded with the epoxy glue. Make sure that it is completely covered all over.
- Insert the epoxied end of the shaft into the hosel of the golf club head. The hosel is the place on the club head where the shaft attaches to the base of the head.
- Push the shaft into the hosel firmly, twisting as you go so that the epoxy will be spread all around inside the hosel.
- Use a clean cloth and some acetone to remove any epoxy that may have spilled out. If you are using a graphite shaft, this is where you will want to line up the shaft graphics.
- Place the golf club standing up in a secure area where it will not fall over. The epoxy will take up to 12 hours for it to completely dry and your golf club to be ready to use.
