How to Install Inner Tubes in Tractor Tires

Knowing the process of installing an inner tube in a tractor tire will save some grief and time. Tractor tires are a bit different from a car or truck tire. Always be sure to follow the proper instructions when installing an inner tube as it can be dangerous at times.

  1. Remove all of the air from the tire until it is completely flat using a valve stem tool that will allow the valve stem to release all of the air inside of the tire.

  2. Remove the tire from the rim using a hammer or a rubber mallet to break the bead loose on the rim. Make sure to only hit the tire; do not hit the rim itself. One side of the bead needs to be broken to remove the tire. If both sides of the bead can be broken, this process will be easier.

  3. Look over the tire to make sure the bead is broken. Use a flat screwdriver or tire iron to pry on the inner lip of the tire. The inner lip needs to be on the outside of the rim. Pick a spot to start and go all the way around the tire.

  4. Place the new inner tube inside of the tractor tire, once the tire is off the tractor.

  5. Add a small amount of air to the tube until the air valve on the tube is located. Place the air valve in the existing hole.

  6. Put the tire bead back on the rim. Use lubrication if needed.

  7. Inflate with air until inflated to proper level.
