- Measure the opening where your shower door will go. Take these measurements at the base of the shower, at the 5-foot mark, and halfway between the two. Write down these measurements. They should be accurate within a 1/16".
- Use a long level to make sure the location is plumb. If it is not, you will need to determine where the door needs to be wider or narrower.
- Draw a sketch of both the top view of the shower and the front view of the shower. Add the measurements that you took earlier to the drawing and take this with you when you order the door.
- Position the hinge so that it is in the center of the door's cut-out for it. Use your fingers to carefully tighten the rear screws and attach the handles.
- Place the door into the position it will be installed. Shim the door to create a 3/8" clearance on the bottom. Mark the locations of the holes.
- Drill holes using a 1/4" masonry bit. Either drill directly into a stud or use high-quality wall anchors. Place the screws through the hinge and into the wall using a drill. Start with the holes on the top and bottom on the outside.
- Connect the vinyl sweep to the bottom of the shower door. Trim the sweep at a 45-degree angle so that there is half-inch extension located on the front and back of the door.
