How to Install a Mazda5 Roof Rack
Roof racks are ideal for additional storage no matter what type of vehicle you own. A Mazda5, in particular, provides you with enough room to successfully install this part, whether you wish to hold extra luggage or sporting equipment, such as skis and bicycles.
Things You Will Need:
- Roof rack assembly kit
- Power drill
- Weatherproof sealant
- Unpack the assembly kit and determine the position that you wish to place the bars on each side of the roof of your Mazda 5. When determining the exact placement of each bar, make sure that the bars are even. When the bars are not even, this increases the likelihood that the items you are storing will fall off, or even that the roof rack itself will come undone.
- Place the mounting bars on top of the roof. When placing these pieces on top, ensure that the pieces are in between the first two pieces that you positioned. Make sure that the ends are securely snapped in place before moving on to the next step. This is essential, as it is the foundation of the rack.
- Check to make sure that there is nothing in the way, such as wires or other fixtures, by looking underneath the roof of your Mazda 5. Specifically, look in the lining where you plan to secure the rack onto the roof.
- Drill the holes as outlined in the assembly pack and tighten each bar with the included bolts. It is vital that you use the washers that are provided in the assembly kit, since this prevents water from leaking through the roof when it rains.
- Apply weatherproof sealant onto the bolts for added security and place the covers on top to hide the connections.
