How to Install the McAfee Security Suite

McAfee Internet security is an all-encompassing Internet security solution providing protection to your computer from hackers and viruses. This is done at several entry points, including web browsing, email and instant messaging. It is available directly as a product or as a part of some other services it partners with.

  1. Open the McAfee Internet Security Suite to begin the installation. Do this by inserting the McAfee Internet Security Suite CD (if you purchased the physical software) or double-clicking the installation file (if you downloaded the program online).

  2. Click "next" when the McAfee installation wizard appears.

  3. Read the End User License Agreement and click "accept" if you agree with the terms to proceed.

  4. Select the "complete" option and click "next".

  5. Enter the word or phrase of your choice when prompted for the administrator password you would like to use; make sure you write it down somewhere safe in case you forget.

  6. Select a security question of your choice that will be asked to retrieve the password if you forget it. Choose a question that will not be obvious to a hacker.

  7. Select one of the questions and type the answer and choose next.

  8. Select the button that provides you an option that lets you choose to participate in the virus mapping service to help McAfee track the spread of virus outbreaks, if you are so inclined.

  9. Click "next". Select the "restart" option to complete the installation procedure.

  10. The suite becomes active once the computer restarts.

  11. Type the administrator password that you set to sign in when required.
