How to Insulate Mobile Homes
You bought a used mobile home or you need to remodel the one you own. Insulating your mobile home can make a difference in electrical bills and resale value. Adding insulation is essential to the life of a mobile home. Here is how to insulate mobile homes.
Find the source of air leaks. You can usually feel cold or hot air entering your mobile home. Many times you can add a door strip to the base of the door or spray foam to seal any air leaks. These items can be purchased at your local hardware store, Home Depot or Lowes.
If your windows are the source of cold air or extra heat, you may want to purchase new windows for your mobile home. Many times new windows can increase a mobile home’s insulation by 25%.
Adding insulation to the roof of your home can also insulate the mobile home. Many times you can spray insulation in the space between your ceiling and roof. This is an area that holds cool or hot air and can increase your utility bills. By filling this area in with insulation, you will greatly reduce your bills.
If you do not wish to get into the area under the roof, you can simply remove ceiling tiles and add insulation to the back of each tile. This will also insulate areas of your mobile home.
If you have added insulation to the roof and still need to add more insulation, you can always add insulation under your mobile home. Using the same spray insulation technique, you can quickly insulate the base of your mobile home.
