How to Interview Home Sitters
Home sitters in this day and age are becoming more and more popular. With the increase of robbery and theft it is a good idea not to leave a home unattended for a long period of time. However, if the right home sitter is not chosen this in itself can be trouble.
- First, complete a face-to-face interview. Doing a personal, face-to-face interview is the first and foremost important way to interview a house sitter. When interviewing face-to-face, one can really get a feel for the persons personality and honesty. If there are any bad vibes when interviewing, it is important to follow the heart and eliminate that person.
- Complete a background check. Take personal information and ask them for permission to do a background check. They should be willing to cooperate unless there is a reason that they would not want the homeowner to view their background. If one does not agree, eliminate this prospect as a house sitter. With a background check the homeowner can be at ease and have peace of mind while they are away from their home.
- Have the prospect fingerprinted. Having a professional fingerprint done on the prospect will help to weed out the bad from the good or the innocent from the guilty. Fingerprinting can usually be done at a local law enforcement agency.
- Request a resume. Requesting a resume will list past house sitting jobs and will show the experience of the prospect. Also, the resume should list references that the house owner can contact.
