How to Kill Fungus on Patio Pavers

A great looking patio is something that most people will compliment an owner on any time of the year. Unfortunately, there are little buggers that like to hang on even in great weather. Fungus and algae are two of the greatest enemies a patio can have.

Killing fungus on patio pavers can be easy with the right know-how and tools.

  • Sweep as much of the fungus away as can be swept. This will clear away a lot of the problem and enable a gander at the stuff that is really deep within the pavers.

  • Use bleach in a 1:10 solution with water, ten cups of water to one cup of bleach. Anymore bleach will over power and that's not a good thing. Use a jet sprayer attachment to a garden hose for a great pressure wash system.

  • Grab a wide head broom with hard bristles for extra scrubbing. Fungus is not something that likes to let go of anything once it takes hold. A good scrubbing will help the fungus release and the bleach will kill what's left.

  • Spray the bleach and water mixture onto the pavers. Scrub with the broom or hard bristle brush.

  • Once all the fungus is scrubbed, detach the jet nozzle on the garden hose and rinse the bleach and fungus away. If another garden hose attachment is desired for added pressure to the rinse water that's okay.

It might be a little bit of hard work, but the effort put into the cleaning will pay off once everything is dry. There should be a clean, nice smelling patio when all of these steps are completed. Invite some people over once everything is dry and have a get-together or party to show off how clean those patio pavers have become.

Others will be delighted to find it only took a few simple steps to have everything look so nice. Compliments on a patio are sure to follow. Make sure to be a graceful receiver or smile and simply say how easy it was.
