How to Make Concrete Patios Out of Concrete Pavers

How to Lay Interlocking Pavers on Concrete Patios

If your landscape needs updating or you just want to add something different. Laying interlocking pavers on a concrete patio can create a new look. The pavers can be easily installed in a chosen area. The process is not hard to accomplish if you are doing it on your own.

Materials Needed

  • Crushed rock

  • Paver sand

  • Broom

  • Interlocking pavers

  • Landscaping glue

  • Finishing sand

  1. Look over the area to check for cracks or holes. These can be filled in to make the area level and even. Take crushed rock and place them in the cracks and holes. Cover the area with paver sand. Sweep the entire area with a broom.

  2. Begin at one corner of the patio to lay the pavers. Apply landscaping glue to the pavers and place it on the patio. Press the pavers into place to secure it

  3. Work quickly when applying the glue because it dries quickly. Place all of the pavers along the border in this manner.

  4. Creating a border around the area will keep the sand in place when it rains. You may have to use a wet saw to cut some of the pavers.

  5. Put in all of the other pavers over the concrete patios. You do not need landscaping glue for the other pavers because the edge pavers will protect the rest of them.

  6. Pour regular finishing sand over the entire patio. Use a broom to sweep the sand over the patio to fill in any cracks between the pavers.

  7. Allow the sand to settle for two days. Pour more sand over the area and sweep it into place using a broom to make sure the cracks are filled.
